About Silver Wing Wines

Silver Wing are dedicated to using natural/traditional wine production methods, producing top wines from premium Waipara valley fruit.
Hand picked grapes, wild ferments, battonage, plenty of skin contact and inspiration from the Canterbury coastline, Silver Wing is a new hand crafted wine range from Waipara.

Pinot Noir

These grapes are sourced from a single block (The Willaims family vineyard) Waipara Valley hillside clay and limestone.

The quality of Pinot fruit from this particular hill is well known in the area, as are the vineyards of Mountford and Black Estate which are next door.



Church Road block, mature vines planted back in 1996 in Omihi soil, which is derived from limestone and gravel.


Riesling and 2011 Pinot Gris

Grown by Kirk Bray, the soil type here is free-draining river gravel. He crops the vines low here at 2kg or less per plant achieving intense flavour and aromas.


Winemaker – Andrew Fox

Studied wine making at EIT, worked in wineries in Marlborough, Hawkes Bay, and North Canterbury with production experience in France and Navarra, Spain.
After several vintages working, making wine for other companies, in 2010 Andrew made arrangements with some top Waipara growers for fruit and an award winning Mackenzies RD winery to lease space.

With the conversion of two 1200 litre beer tanks, the purchase of two vats and a dozen barrels, it was all on and he began making wine for his own label, Silver Wing Wines.
